This exhibition at the European Central Bank (ECB) accompanies the publication of the catalogue “Contemporary art from the Member States of the European Union - The first five exhibitions”, which documents retrospectively the country exhibitions that took place between 1997 and 2000.
The exhibition showcases artworks from Austria, Finland, Greece, France and Belgium that already formed part of the ECB’s art collection, as well as recent artworks by younger artists from those countries, which have been acquired in the context of this year’s exhibition to complement the collection. The new acquisitions illustrate recent developments and predominant topics in each country and create a rich dialogue with the older acquisitions.
